How We Review Forex Brokers

At ForexArc, we review forex brokers by examining their trading costs, regulation, account types, platforms, funding policies and customer support.

Our goal is to help traders understand what each broker offers, where the costs are, and which accounts may suit their trading needs.

We use a consistent rating system based on 21 criteria across six categories. Our assessments rely on published broker information, official documentation and regulatory records where available.

We also use firsthand account experience when relevant. However, we do not present broker claims as independently tested results.

Our Forex Broker Review Process

Every review starts with research into the broker’s trading conditions and the legal entities behind its services.

We examine official websites, account specifications, pricing schedules, client agreements and regulatory information.

Where available, we also review account screenshots, transaction records and our own experience using the broker.

We separate verified information from broker-published claims. We also identify limitations when information cannot be independently confirmed.

How We Rate Forex Brokers

ForexArc uses a 100-point editorial scoring system. Each broker is assessed against the same 21 criteria, grouped into six categories.

The total score is converted into a rating out of five, rounded to one decimal place.

Our ratings focus on documented broker features, pricing and transparency. They do not measure live execution performance or guarantee broker safety.

ForexArc Rating Categories

Rating CategoryWeight
Trading Costs and Pricing25%
Regulatory Transparency15%
Trading Platforms and Tools20%
Account Accessibility15%
Deposits and Withdrawals15%
Customer Support and Education10%
Total100%

Each category contains specific checks. Points are awarded using documented scoring rules rather than an overall personal impression.

Missing public evidence may reduce a score under our transparency criteria. This does not automatically mean a broker lacks the feature or is unsafe.

1. Trading Costs and Pricing (25%)

Trading costs carry the highest weight in our rating system.

We examine Standard and commission-based account pricing, published spreads, forex commissions and other trading charges.

Our assessment considers:

  • Standard and Raw account pricing.
  • Published commission schedules.
  • Historical or typical spread information, where available.
  • Overnight financing and non-trading fees.
  • Published round-turn forex commission costs.

Advertised spreads from 0.0 pips do not mean trading is free. Actual costs depend on spreads, commissions, market conditions and the account being used.

We score documented pricing information. We do not claim to have independently measured execution costs across every broker.

2. Regulatory Transparency (15%)

We check which legal company provides the trading service and which regulator oversees that entity.

A broker may operate through several companies in different countries. Each can have different rules, leverage limits and client protections.

We assess whether the broker clearly identifies its legal entity, provides accessible legal documents and appears in an independently checked regulator listing.

A regulatory licence is not a guarantee of safety. Client-money protections and compensation arrangements also depend on the legal entity and client classification.

3. Trading Platforms and Tools (20%)

We examine the trading platforms and tools available to eligible clients.

These may include MetaTrader 4, MetaTrader 5, cTrader, TradingView and broker-owned platforms.

Our scoring considers platform availability, additional charting integrations, proprietary web and mobile trading, and automated trading support.

Platform features can differ by account and region. We do not assume every broker offers the same functionality on every platform.

4. Account Accessibility (15%)

Account choice matters because traders have different budgets and pricing preferences.

We compare Standard and commission-based accounts, published funding requirements, demo accounts and swap-free options.

We distinguish the minimum required to open an account from the minimum accepted by a payment method.

A lower deposit requirement can improve accessibility, but it does not reduce the risks of leveraged trading.

5. Deposits and Withdrawals (15%)

We review how clients can deposit and withdraw money.

Our assessment covers available payment methods, published charges, currency conversion policies and withdrawal instructions.

Some payment methods may involve additional bank or provider fees. Availability can also vary by country and account.

Published processing times do not guarantee when funds will reach a client’s bank or wallet.

Unless we have documented a particular transaction, we do not claim to have tested its processing time.

6. Customer Support and Education (10%)

We examine the support channels and educational resources available to traders.

Our scoring considers published contact methods, support hours, tutorials, educational materials and trading tools.

We distinguish support availability from support quality.

A broker offering 24/7 support does not necessarily provide faster or better assistance. We do not award performance claims without comparable testing.

How We Calculate the Final Rating

Each broker receives points across the 21 criteria, up to a maximum of 100.

We divide the total by 20 to produce a rating out of five.

Example:

Total PointsForexArc Rating
90/1004.5/5
80/1004.0/5
70/1003.5/5

All brokers use the same scoring rules. Affiliate commissions do not contribute to the calculation.

A higher rating means a broker scored better under our documented criteria. It does not mean the broker is automatically cheaper, safer or more suitable for every trader.

How We Use Firsthand Trading Experience

Our research includes firsthand account experience where available.

We have experience using IC Markets and Vantage, including account management and trading activities. Our Pepperstone experience dates from 2018 to 2021.

We use these observations to explain account features, trading workflows and funding processes.

Historical account experience is not treated as proof of current spreads, execution speed or withdrawal performance.

We identify when information comes from personal experience and when it comes from a broker’s published documents.

How We Compare Forex Brokers

Our broker comparisons focus on the differences that matter when choosing an account.

We compare trading costs, account types, platforms, funding requirements and regulatory information using similar conditions where possible.

For example, two brokers may both advertise spreads from 0.0 pips. Their commissions, average spreads and overnight charges can still differ.

We explain these differences rather than choosing a winner from one advertised figure.

A broker with a lower overall rating may still be a better choice for a particular trading platform, account type or trading style.

Our Sources and Updates

We give priority to official broker documents, pricing schedules, account terms and regulatory records.

Broker fees, platform availability, deposit requirements and legal conditions can change.

We review important information when changes come to our attention and reassess ratings when material terms affect our scoring criteria.

Each review should show its latest meaningful editorial update.

When information cannot be confirmed, we state the limitation rather than guess.

Editorial Independence and Affiliate Disclosure

ForexArc is an independent forex broker comparison website funded in part through affiliate partnerships.

We may earn a commission when readers open an eligible broker account through our links.

Affiliate compensation does not form part of our scoring system.

Our reviews aim to explain both the advantages and limitations of each broker, including costs, account restrictions and relevant trading risks.

Our content is for general information and does not provide personal financial advice.

Corrections and Reader Feedback

We aim to keep our broker information accurate and current.

If you notice an outdated fee, incorrect account detail or other factual issue, you can contact us through our Contact Us page.

We review relevant corrections against available evidence and update material information when necessary.

Important Limitations

ForexArc ratings evaluate documented broker terms and features. They are not guarantees of service quality, fund recovery or future trading performance.

We have not conducted identical live execution tests across all brokers. Published spreads, commission schedules and support hours may differ from an individual client’s experience.

Forex and CFDs involve a high risk of losing money, especially when using leverage. Always check the legal entity, account agreement and current trading conditions before depositing funds.

Our scoring system measures the quality and transparency of documented broker offerings. It does not predict trading performance or measure the overall financial safety of a broker.
