Standard / Raw Spread

Read IC Markets review

Why it makes the shortlist: IC Markets offers a direct choice between a spread-inclusive Standard account and commission-based Raw Spread accounts. On its global MetaTrader Raw Spread account, IC advertises spreads from 0.0 pips and a commission of $3.50 per standard lot per side. Its Standard account advertises spreads from 0.8 pips with no separate forex commission.

That structure makes IC worth considering for traders who use Expert Advisors, scalp or place frequent forex orders. It also supports MT4 and MT5, while cTrader and TradingView access is provided through its separate cTrader account. Account/platform mapping matters: choosing a MetaTrader Raw account is not the same as choosing its cTrader offering.

Consider before opening:  A zero-pip minimum spread does not mean zero total cost. Compare the average spread, commission, swaps and the currency of your account. IC also advertises Raw Pro tiers with higher funding thresholds and early-access availability; those should not be confused with its regular Raw account.

Best suited to: Traders prioritising MetaTrader automation, Raw Spread pricing and clearly specified regular account options.

Standard STP / RAW ECN

Read Vantage Markets review

Why it makes the shortlist: Vantage offers Standard STP and Raw ECN accounts with a commonly published $50 minimum deposit. Standard STP uses spread-based pricing, with the international comparison page advertising spreads from 1.1 pips. Raw ECN advertises spreads from 0.0 pips and commission from $3 per standard lot per side, depending on the applicable account and region.

Alongside MT4 and MT5, Vantage offers a mobile trading app and additional account options for qualifying traders. This provides a useful choice between straightforward forex pricing and tighter advertised spreads with a separate commission.

Consider before opening:Vantage’s products and protections are entity-specific. Higher account tiers may have different eligibility and funding requirements. Published account claims should not be applied automatically to every country, and crypto CFDs must not be confused with owning cryptocurrencies directly. The licence shown in our table is held by VIG Group (Mauritius FSC); depending on where you live, your account may be held by Vantage Global Limited (Vanuatu VFSC) or another Vantage entity.

Best suited to: Traders who want to compare a lower-entry Standard or Raw account with mobile tools and account options for different trading styles.

Standard / Razor

Read Pepperstone review

Why it makes the shortlist: Pepperstone offers Standard and Razor CFD accounts together with a broad platform selection. Its own platform sits alongside MetaTrader, cTrader and TradingView. Razor uses raw spreads plus commissions on forex and spot gold, while Standard generally includes forex trading costs in the spread.

Pepperstone’s August 2026 published EUR/USD example showed an average spread of 0.1 pips on Razor before commission and 1.1 pips on Standard. These are broker-published historical averages, not independently recorded trading results or guaranteed future conditions.

Pepperstone also provides a proprietary web/mobile trading experience, giving traders an alternative to third-party terminals. The right platform depends on the account and jurisdiction: for example, TradingView access should not automatically be assumed for a Standard account.

Consider before opening: The broker operates through multiple legal entities. Razor commissions, funding options, leverage and investor protections depend on platform and region. Its published international bank withdrawal charges are not identical across all regions. The $0 shown in our table means no universal account-opening minimum; individual payment methods can have their own minimum amounts, commonly $10.

Best suited to: Traders who value choosing between familiar third-party tools and a broker-owned platform.

Compare Forex Broker Trading Costs

A broker’s advertised spread is only one component of total trading cost. The comparison is more useful when you keep the instrument, trade size, platform, account currency and holding time consistent.

Accountspread fromPublished commissionWhat the headline excludes
IC Markets Standard0.8 pipsNo separate FX commissionVariable actual spread, swaps, other applicable costs
IC Markets Raw Spread (MetaTrader)0.0 pips$3.50 per standard lot per side, USD scheduleActual spread, swaps, conversion differences
Vantage Standard STP1.1 pips$0 FX commission in the published Standard scheduleVariable actual spread, swaps and product exceptions
Vantage Raw ECN0.0 pipsFrom $3 per standard lot per sideActual spread, swaps and regional/account variations
Pepperstone StandardSpread-inclusive FX pricingGenerally no separate FX commission; share CFDs differActual spread, swaps and product-specific charges
Pepperstone Razor0.0 pipsFrom $3.50 per standard FX lot per side on the broker’s stated platform scheduleActual spread, swaps and platform/currency variations

Example of why totals matter: for a standard 100,000-unit EUR/USD trade, one pip is approximately $10 when the quote currency and account currency are USD. A 0.1-pip spread would therefore represent about $1 in spread cost, before a round-turn commission and other charges. This is a calculation example, not a broker execution test. A lower quoted commission alone does not establish the cheapest broker.

Standard or Raw Spread: Which Account Makes Sense?

A Standard account usually keeps forex trading costs in the spread. It is easier to read as a single quoted price, although spreads vary with market conditions.
A Raw or Razor account aims for tighter quoted spreads but charges a separate commission. The latter may suit frequent trading, but the total can be higher for some instruments, trade sizes or account currencies.

Use the current spread and commission schedule for the exact platform you intend to trade. If you hold positions overnight, include swaps or other financing charges in the comparison.

How to Choose a Forex Broker

Large broker brands can operate through several companies. A regulator overseeing one subsidiary does not necessarily supervise your account with another subsidiary. Check the contracting company in the application documents, confirm its register entry and understand how client money, complaints and negative balance protection work for your classification.

Segregated accounts and negative balance protection are useful safeguards where they apply, but they do not eliminate market losses or guarantee recovery after insolvency. Retail and professional clients can have different protections.

Compare the Platform You Will Actually Use

MetaTrader 4 and 5 remain common choices for forex traders and automated strategies. cTrader provides another interface and automation environment, while TradingView appeals to traders who prefer its charting workflow. A proprietary mobile app may be useful for monitoring and managing positions, but features can differ from desktop tools.

Do not assume every broker makes every platform available on every account. Confirm whether your preferred account supports the tools, order types and indicators you need.

Consider Deposits and Withdrawals Separately

An account-opening minimum is not always the same as the smallest transaction a payment method accepts. Some brokers allow an account to be opened or maintained with no balance while imposing a minimum amount when you fund it. Withdrawal charges and processing times may depend on the legal entity, bank, currency and method.

Check whether the broker requires payments to come from an account in your name, how identity checks work and whether your bank or payment provider may add fees. A published withdrawal processing estimate does not guarantee the date funds arrive.

What Makes a Forex Broker Safe?

No forex or CFD broker is risk-free. Regulatory oversight, client-money rules and operational disclosures can reduce some risks, but leveraged trading can still cause substantial losses. Focus on practical checks:

  1. Legal identity: Match the company on your application with an official regulator record.
  2. Client protections: Confirm segregation arrangements, negative balance protection and any compensation eligibility for your specific entity and client category.
  3. Transparent costs: Read the account’s spread, commission, overnight financing, inactivity and withdrawal terms.
  4. Trading limitations: Check leverage, stop-out rules, restricted countries and whether an instrument is a CFD rather than a directly owned asset.
  5. Operational support: Confirm how to contact the broker and how to escalate a dispute.

Do not choose a broker only because a website lists several regulators next to its brand. The regulations that matter are the ones governing your own account.

How ForexArc Selects and Reviews Brokers

ForexArc’s shortlist starts with brokers for which we have prepared dedicated editorial reviews and examined publicly available account information. This is not a claim that we have independently tested every broker or measured live executions under identical conditions.

Our review process looks at the following areas:

Trading costsStandard and Raw spreads, commissions, financing and account fees
AccountsMinimum deposits, account differences and regional eligibility
PlatformsSupported terminals, web/mobile access and automation compatibility

How ratings are handled:  Broker scores displayed in our cards come from the individual ForexArc reviews. We do not recalculate or invent a separate numerical score for this article. Published fees and products can change, so material figures are checked against source documents and dated when possible. We distinguish broker statements from independent tests and historical personal experience from current testing.

Commercial disclosure: ForexArc may earn a commission when a reader follows a broker link. Commercial arrangements do not change the published broker facts. The broker you can open an account with and the risks you face depend on your location and account entity.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which forex broker is best in 2026?

There is no single best broker for every trader. IC Markets is worth comparing for Raw Spread and MetaTrader trading, Pepperstone for its broad platform selection, and Vantage for its Standard/Raw account choices and mobile app. Your country, legal entity and trading costs determine the practical fit.

Which broker has the lowest forex spreads?

All three advertise spreads from 0.0 pips on some commission-based accounts. That is a minimum, not a typical all-in cost. Compare average spreads, commissions and swaps for the same forex pair and account.

Is a Raw account cheaper than a Standard account?

Not always. A Raw account has a separate commission in exchange for tighter quoted spreads. The total depends on actual spread, platform, trade size, account currency and how long you hold the position.

Can I trade forex with no minimum deposit?

Some IC Markets and Pepperstone account pages state no universal account-opening minimum, while specific payment methods may impose transaction thresholds. Vantage commonly advertises $50 for its Standard STP and Raw ECN accounts. Check the current conditions applicable to your country.

Which brokers support MetaTrader 4 and MetaTrader 5?

IC Markets, Pepperstone and Vantage publish MT4 and MT5 support. The platform available to you still depends on the account type, legal entity and region.

Are forex brokers regulated worldwide?

A broker brand may contain several separately regulated legal companies. Regulation in one country does not automatically protect clients registered through another company. Confirm the entity named in your contract and the relevant register entry.

Can I trade cryptocurrencies through these forex brokers?

Some entities offer cryptocurrency CFDs, which provide price exposure without ownership of the underlying cryptocurrency. Availability, leverage and trading hours depend on the broker and jurisdiction.

How do we choose the brokers on this page?

We currently include brokers with dedicated ForexArc reviews and available source material. We compare pricing, account features, platforms and entity-specific regulatory information. Inclusion is not a claim that we audited their operations or tested identical live trades.
